Study Medicine in Australia

Australia houses world’s leading universities that offer high-quality education. Medical Sciences is one of the most  popular courses attracting students from across the globe. The cost to complete a medical degree in Australia is approximately AUD 400,000 to AUD 450,000.

Undergraduate medical program

In Australia the undergraduate medical program  spans across five to six years. Its an  provisional admission for students who have completed year 12 or equivalent high school education.

Graduate medical program

Its a four year course and the applicants need an degree in science  and have written the MCAT.

Licensing

If you are and International Medical Graduate and have completed your Medicine from Australia , then in order to apply for residency positions in Canada, you must first ensure you are eligible to do so.

As an IMG, to be eligible to participate for the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) match, you must:

2. Written and passed, or be scheduled to write the National Assessment Collaboration (NAC) Examination by September 2019

3. And also one of the following:

Written and passed the Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCEE)
or
Written and passed, or be scheduled to write the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Exam Part I by September 2019

NOTE 1: The United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) exams do not substitute for the MCC.
NOTE 2: To apply for the IMG BC Clinical Assessment Program and/or the Alberta IMG Program, and consequently be eligible for positions in British Columbia and/or Alberta, candidates must have written the MCCQE Part I by no later than July 26, 2019 for the 2020 R-1.

      4. Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. Visa holders are not eligible.

The above-mentioned criteria are the basic requirements to allow you to participate in the CaRMS match and are not necessarily the only criteria to apply for positions within the different provinces. Criteria listed under a given province in this section will apply to all programs within that province. It is your responsibility to ensure you have read the information provided under the provincial restrictions to meet all the necessary requirements when applying for the programs of your choice.

Each program will indicate what documents are required, which exams need to be passed and which provincial assessments are preferred. You should also check the provincial criteria of the province in which the program is found as well.
