Study Pharmacy in Australia
As there are only 10 Schools in Canada offering Pharmacy degree, lots of Canadians are are going abroad to study Pharmacy. Students from Canada who wish to study Pharmacy in Australia are required to have an undergraduate degree.
According to Service Canada, job prospects for Pharmacists are really good . The wide variety of career choices available to the registered pharmacists are retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, various positions in the pharmaceutical industry etc.
Licensing
After graduating from an Australian Bachelor of Pharmacy program, you are eligible to apply for Canadian certification through the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC), and then for provincial certification through the provincial certification board in the province in which you wish to practice as a pharmacist. Each province has their own requirements such as practical experience, language proficiency, and jurisprudence examinations on pharmacy legislation and practice standards. You can complete the entire process within seven to nine months.
There are 3 steps to achieving PEBC pharmacist certification:
| STEP 1: DOCUMENT EVALUATION – You must pass this evaluation of your educational and professional credentials to be eligible to take the Pharmacist Evaluating Examination. |
| STEP 2: THE PHARMACIST EVALUATING EXAMINATION – You must pass this examination to be eligible for the Pharmacist Qualifying Examination – Parts I and II. |
| STEP 3: THE PHARMACIST QUALIFYING EXAMINATION, PART I (MCQ) and PART II (OSCE) – Your final step to qualifying for certification with PEBC. When you have passed both Parts of the examination you will be certified and registered with PEBC. |
